UNDERSTANDING THE PHYSICAL WORLD

Animation Gallery

These pieces bring up work that meant to play outside of the frame, and help make the animation feel like a larger piece of a narrative. The use of environment through video is used as a rich contrast towards the animation. The animation isn't neccecarly giving off a full interrogation within the live action world, but mores that it could slowly enter and exist without any narrative or visual problems.

SPIDER PROJECT

Sep 2018, Personal Project, Chicago

This was a departure from works in middle school that focused on stop motion for larger projects. The Spider focuses on how the color, framing, and even the physicality of the paper could play a role in giving a visceral reaction towards the audience. It was also the first animation to include the use of watercolor as a strong focus.

GROWING TREE

Dec 2019, Palette and Chisel, College Entry Project, Chicago

Growing Tree was my entry project for RISD and is was meant to show the relationship between nature and art. Its also the first project to include myself as an actor rather than performer. This project sparked the importance of body language for myself, and reminded myself how character animation was sculpted through that detail.

BLACK SHIT COLLECTIVE

Dec 2021, Commissioned. Personal Project. Chicago

Black Shit Collective was meant as another expansion towards the real world, with the use of animated puppets. However, its also the first payed piece I created and was meant to portray the two writers of a podcast. For that, I wanted to focus on the lightheartedness of Chicago, understanding its neighborhoods and it energy. I believe the integrating of real time video with animation helps create a visually enticing experience.

FROM HIS INHERITANCE

May 2023, Intermidiete Animation, RISD, Providence

From His Inheritance is my junior final film which contains themes I explored throughout most of my time as animator, including memory, separation, and the relationship animation mediums had with each other. It stars a turtle and a monster fighting for jews, with an underlining story of a bittersweet memory. This film overall pushes my experience both in stopmotion, my interest in experimenting in mediums, and my interest in narrative

An Unraveling

This project was originally my RISD Thesis, however the animation was unfinished. This would become the main project to work on during my master's to finish it for my first year at SAIC. It's a strong culmination on my ideas surrounds mix media and the relationship media has with each other. It also tells the story of a failing relationship between two people as they try one last time to make art together.
